Fear No Film
Fear No Film is co-produced by the Utah Arts Festival and the SLC Film Center. Entry into Fear No Film will also make your film eligible for other SLC Film Center festivals and events, including Fear No Film on Sidewalk Cinema, an ongoing festival of short films playing on large screens throughout downtown Salt Lake City.
Screenings are held inside the air-conditioned Library Auditorium. All screenings are free to the public. Each screening is preceded by about 20 minutes of children’s programming for families with kids to beat the heat for a spell.
2009 Films
This year’s Fear No Film encourages Festival guests to deconstruct the WhoWhatWhereWhenWhyHow? of each short film. The program areas are titled accordingly, Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How.
Each screening averages about an hour and offers a handful of short films.
Additionally, Fear No Film organizers encourage viewers to ponder these questions for each film:
- WHO MADE THIS SHORT FILM? And does it change my experience sitting here today?
- WHAT IS IT? What does this short film represent or why is it programmed?
- WHERE WAS IT MADE? And how did this infl uence the filmmaker or aff ect the way I watch each piece of work?
- WHEN DOES IT REFERENCE? Does it represent a public or personal zeitgeist of some sort?
- WHY MAKE THIS SHORT FILM? Is it a clarion call? A cry for help?
- HOW DID THEY MAKE IT? What of the production itself?
