Art Attack 5K Run

The 16th Annual Sports Medicine Center of Utah Art Attack 5K is held the Saturday of the Festival and raises $15,000 annually to support the artistic programs of the Festival. The run features a USAT&F certified out and back course that is very flat, and very fast! Along with the 5K, those 12 and under can participate in a 1K at 7:45 am to test their fitness level.

More info coming soon.

Art Partners

In a greater effort to be inclusive of artists and communities within the state of Utah, the Utah Arts Festival and the Utah Arts Council Community/State Partnership Program got together in 1995 to explore the idea of an Art Partners Program.

As the largest multi-disciplinary, four-day festival in Utah, we are in a unique position to serve as a conduit for artists across the state – giving them support, networking opportunities and exposure to new audiences by including them at the annual Utah Arts Festival.

Composer Commissions

The Utah Arts Festival commissions works of classical music for ensemble and for orchestra.

Culinary Artists

Trying to feed some 75,000 people over four days can be a daunting task – just ask any of our culinary participants come Sunday night at 11 pm! They’re wiped out.

This year we’re excited to offer our patrons some new culinary offerings. For those who just want to come down and have a little nibble and a glass of wine – visit our Tapas Tent. How about barbeque? Italian gelato? Bring your appetite!

Visit online application.

Demonstrating Artists

Each year the Festival invites local artists to come down and demonstrate their artistic talents.  In the past we’ve invited Utah Calligraphers, The Salt Lake Knitting Guild, and The Glass Guild from Illinois.  Watching artists “at work” gives patrons the opportunity to see the artistic process, learn about a new medium and ask questions of the artists about their craft.

See real artists creating real art all four days of the Festival, usually located in the northeast corner of the City County grounds (unless otherwise noted). Most demonstrations last 45 minutes. Schedules subject to change.

eARTh Team

The Utah Arts Festival environmental program began 10 years ago with a recycling program and a valet bike lot. As one of the few events in the country with a recycling program, we became the “experts” and held seminars, wrote articles for event-industry magazines and spoke at conferences around the country on setting up a recycling program.

Now we are doing more for the overall environment. Our goal is to reduce the overall impact the Festival has on the environment. Along with recycling plastics and cardboard, we’ll try to further reduce the impact by recycling glass, composting food scraps and collecting vegetable oil from our food vendors for bio-diesel use.

Target Art Yard

One of the most popular attractions at the Festival each year is the Target Art Yard. Everyone knows that kids would rather “do” than “just look...” While they can enjoy visiting the Visual Artists booths with their parents, they are often told, “don’t touch.” At the Target Art Yard, they are encouraged to touch, make, create. Enjoy!

When Target opened its first stores in 1962, it was with a strong commitment to support and empower the communities its stores serve. Today, that 44-year tradition is reflected in the Target grant-making program, through which Target gives more than $2 million every week to strengthen families and communities across the nation, with a focus on education, the arts, social services and other vital community partnerships.

Urban Arts

The Utah Arts Festival places an emphasis on contemporary art, which implies a willingness to accept artistic risk by presenting artists, forms and subject matter that are innovative or non-traditional.

Visual Artists

The Utah Arts Festival features 130 visual artists in its Artist Marketplace every year.
